Why do I have to disable my anti-virus software?

When you run any of the PPTools installers, you see a message asking you to disable your anti-virus software.

Anti-virus programs can cause software installations to fail. Check the README file or installation notes for nearly any software you own and it'll probably tell you the same thing.

If disabling your anti-virus software makes you nervous, leave it on.

Install your PPTools software with the virus checker running. It'll probably work fine. If not, try installing again with the virus-checker disabled, then immediately re-enable your virus checker.

Because of the wide variety of anti-virus software and the problems some of these programs can create, we cannot offer installation support unless the install is attempted at least once with anti-virus software disabled.
